Dear Family and Friends,
I was pondering a little bit about what I could write about this week and an example Sister Marler shared with us this past week fit soo very well. So, I hope she is okay with me talking about this.
This past week Elder Bond and I were able to continue with the Interviews, and it has been such a humbling expierences to get to know so many different types of missionaries and to have so many neat expierences to feel the spirit together. The interviews have been incredible. I am convinced that the best missionaries are sent to Peru Trujillo Norte, because there incredible.
I have been pondering a lot about perspective, the power of one, light, and trying to make a difference in this dark and scary world. Having the blessing and chance to be closer to the missionaries and getting to know each and everyone of them more personally has helped me understand those things in a different form. Each missionary and each Child of God that we come to know has a different perspective on things in this life. They can either be very positive and look at things as a blessing or look at things with negative attitude, or just not really have an opinion about it. Each of our passions differ and thats what I love about getting to know people.
Now, what i have noticed is that when one can change there perspective and actitude and give there all, all of there heart to the Lord they are able to make an effect in the lifes of others. They are able to shine. But it starts in the Hearts and minds, or our perspective. When we strive to remember Christ constantly, to take upon his name in every action and thought we have during the day and we strive to be obedient to his commandments we start to change our perspective and actitud and start putting it in line with The Lords. When that happens we can Shine in this Dark world.
The way for the Banyan Tree is because we have been talking about establishing the Church more and how we can strengthen the roots and this is the example Sister Marler thought of. I wish to talk about how we can make a difference in the world we live in and where we are at. We are all part of this great Tree. With Banyan trees when the tree grows and it needs more support, the branches or leaves shoot out a new root that connects to the roots below, and it strengths the tree so it can grow even more.
Something I have loved this past week is seeing the conversion of the missionaries and all that they are willing to do. They really are like these roots that shoot out to support all those around them. Every missionary has left there family, they know the church is true, they are willing to give there all to the Lord and when that happens they shoot down there root and become a vital part of the Tree, they support those around. The Power of One is real, it makes a difference. Giving your all where ever the Lord takes you, being positive, Shining with all you have in ever moment is when you shoot your roots out and support the Truth, and the Love of God.
I have been so fortunate to be surrounded by many who are so very strong. I have been so blessed to be here with Elder Bond, and he has taught me these princples that I have explained about. He is a light, he supports those around who the Lord has placed in his way. He has blessed my life so very much. His time is coming to an end. Which will be hard for me and for the whole mission, but he has a different part of the tree to hold up, a different area of the world to shine in.
This week My new companion will be coming into the office so Elder Bond can train him in these next two weeks. He will change my life and help me so very much. We will do our best to shine and support and help all those that the Lord will place in our way!
Jacob 5:72-76
Love, Elder Marshall
