Dear Family and Friends,
I am amazed daily at all the blessings the Lord has given me and This week was just a week full of blessings. Each week has been a jounrey and I love having the chance to try and put everything down on paper and trying to express my feelings. Its not a simple task, but more a challenging one. It also makes me feel better about not faithful writing in my journal, One day.
We started the interviewing process here in the mission and I have loved it. Interviews are such a personal expierence and being on the other side it is a differnt expierence. The interviews are with President Marler, Hermana Marler and here in our mission with the asistents. Elder Bond and I are talking abou the importance of inviting people to be baptized and how we can open the hearts of the people by inviting them. We taught in our last multizones a pattern to invite someone with a date to be baptized and so we are doing a follow up to see how they have applied it and how they are doing. The purpose of this pattern is to create a feeling in the lesson, to feel the spirit. When the spirit is felt, Hearts open. Thats his job, and how good he is at it. The pattern is we explain how our message is so unique, and then we explain breifly what baptizm is, how we are to be baptized and the why. Now, when we explain the why, in the way the Lord wants us to the Spirit is always present. The why is so we can be clean before God and open the door so we can return and live with him. Thats something every human soul desires for. To return to our Maker. It has been so neat to see how the missionaries have the power and authority to create such a feeling in the hearts of the people. What mantle we have been given to help others come unto Christ.
We also had our Leadership Council meeting this past wednesday. It was a neat expierence for Elder Bond and I. We did our training like its never been done before. It was all based on Preparation and Particapation. Those two words are so very closely tied with The Spirit. When agency is excersied the learning process is accelerated. We had them bring to lesson plans on the Resturacion and the Plan of Salvation. We taught a little about DyC 21:11 and then we had two companionship demonstrate how they teach and then we had everybody practice. It was a very neat spirit that was felt during the meeting. We have the greatest leaders ever.
Sister Marler talked about team work and how we are all on the same team. The team of Christ. She used an example with football teams, but the greatest moment is when she was talking aobut what equipment is used and she had a soccer ball. Well she ended up drop kicking the soccer ball in the institutos building, and it was hilarious. President Maler said 3 words. Thats my Wife. He was very proud and so were we.
President talked about establishing the church here in Trujillo, not just growing it. Thats a struggle here is really making sure the church has sufficent Priesthood holders and families being sealed. It shall be very interesting to see where the work is headed now.
These two expierences this past week has taught me so much about the Spirit and his Role in the Plan of our Heavenly Father. I was studying a little bit in Moses 6, when Enoch is preaching repentence. The Lord had just called him and he didnt really think he was up to shape to do it. He was young and he couldnt talk very well. But the Lord helped him every step of the way with the Spirit. He was able to preach to all the great plan of salvation and the importance of being baptized. I love this chapter very much. We all desire to have the spirit. It is the positive reinforcement behind obedience. He makes us feel better and guides to the Fathers will. He enables us to feel the Love of Christ and expierment changes or purificacion through the Atonement. He is one of ou greatest friends. I am so very grateful for the Spirit. If we think about how we can have the Spirit more in our life it goes back to the Sacrement, and the promises we testify before the Lord to keep. I KNow that if we can remember Chirst always, Take upon us his name Always, and keep his commandments always. we will ALWAYS have the Spirit. How simple and perfect is the Plan of our Father.
I Love this work, I am only a tool in the Lords hand, guided by the Spirit, to complete the will of the Father.
Love, Elder Marshall
