How greatful I am to all of you for the birthday and thanksgiving wishes this past week! It was such a special week for me. I learned so much about this great work of the Lord, how to Act in the gospel and about myself.
Birthdays in the mission are so very interesting, because it shoudlnt be about you, its a time to be humble and be a disciple of Christ, so I learned many lessons about Pride and looking out to others. I can say that we gave it our all that day and this past week. DyC 4:2-3, I embarcked so I am going to give all that I can. We woke up that wonderful birthday morning at around 5:45am to go play soccer with a zone near by, my two incredible companions Elder Bond and Elder Craft may of forgotten that it was my birthday...it was early, anyways we made it back to the room and Elder Olsen remembered so he sang to me with a few elderes that were staying with us downstaries, my two companions heard and felt horrible that they had forgotten. It was hilarious!!
We gave a training to the trainers and the new missionaries that now have 5 weeks. It was a wonderful training. Its the neatest expierence training, because there are so many chances to follow the Spírit and to help those around you. We talked a little about Lucas 24 when Christ appears to two disciples on the road to Emanus. I love that story because after being with his disciples, after they talk and explain so many things about Christ (there was a viel placed on them so they didnt recognize him) at the very end the viel is taken off and they realize that it was Christ the Lord, what JOY they must have felt in that moment. I thought it was very interesting that after being with the Lord and going through trials with him, at the very end He presents himself and then he disappears, and then the Journey starts all over again.
After that training there was a big huge meeting with all the ward councils of Trujillo and Casa grande because Elder Uceda, the 70 of the area, came to Trujillo for the South Mission tour and part fo the tour was this training we were invited along with our Ward council. It was the greatest Birthday Present in the whole world, because I was able to see the ward council from my first area, and the ward council from Casa Grande! I love those two wards with all my heart!! I found out that one of the alma rescues i had in Trujillo is putting his papers in to go on the mission. Alex, he is a great friend. Chana, my penshinsta from Casa grande made me a scarff for my birthday, its awesome, I sleep with it so I dont get the peruvain cold!
The greatest moment this past week was receiving a phone call after a meeting with a stake presidency in Porvenir. I had no idea who it was so I answered and he said Elder Marshall, do you remember me. I said a ver. lets see.... It took me a while but then it clicked it was Pepe Carrasco and his wife Vanessa Carrasco from my first area. A family that we rescued, Elder soliz and I. That just wanted to call me and tell me thank me for all I did for my family! They wanted to thank Mom and Dad for giving birth to me, and they gave me an update on there life. Pepe is on the High Council now and his wife is the 1st councilor in the Young womens. There daughter that is 7, was wanting to be baptized in the catholic church when I was visiting them, but now will be baptized on Janurary 15 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. They are also attending the temple two times a week and reactivating a family in the ward right now. It was a little birthday present from the Lord to hear from them, they are incredible!
We also had a Thanksgiving Lunch at the Marlers house this past week. It was with the temple workers and a few stake presidents from Trujillo. It was an american Thanksgiving Feast, it was incredible!! I havent been that full in a long time. Elder Craft, Elder Bond and I were incharge of a Green Salad. So, we did we made a giant green salad that we are still eating till today. Salad for breakfast and salad for Dinner! I love vegetables!
This week will be incredible. Its the end of the change, which means we have many meetings, saying goodbye to the olds and welcoming the news and it also means I willl have the blessing to meet the parents of Elder Bond!!! They get here monday and will be here for a week! It will be so much fun! The hard part will be saying goodbye. Elder Bond, is my best bud, my brother. I love him so very much! He is a great gift the Lord has given me, as well as Elder Craft. they both amaze me so very much!
I wish you all a wonderful week and that we can all give Christ a gift this Christmas!! Find the simple ways!
